“I continue to dream and pray about a revival of holiness in our day that moves forth in mission and creates authentic community in which each person can be unleashed through the empowerment of the Spirit to fulfill God’s creational intentions.” – John Wesley
The above quote is true to the spirit of John Wesley and his ministry called the Methodist movement in 18th Century England. Long before Methodism became an institutional denomination, it was a movement. We must remember the roots we come from so that we can continue in the same vitality and spirit.
We must also think about the times in which we live. The Spirit of God is alive and well. He moves in ways that are pertinent to the times in which we live. What we must do is join together in prayer and ask for the Holy Spirit to bring revival in our church, in our communities, and in our families in a way that is relevant today.
Do you pray for the Holy Spirit’s mighty move in your life? Do you pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in your family? Do you pray for the Holy Spirit to ignite your church with boldness and vitality?
I join John Wesley because it is in line with what the apostles prayed for, and all that they planted seeds for. The church is God’s agent through which the Holy Spirit impacts the world with His love and grace. Why? So that we might live in God’s creational intentions: in His victory, in His life, in His value, in His worth, in His provisions! Let us be a people who actively pray for the Holy Spirit to apply the Gospel freedom into our lives so that we could live in God’s creational intentions for us! Amen.
