Today’s Reflection: Acts 1:9
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
The way Jesus ascended to heaven, Paul tells us in his letter to the Thessalonians that we too will also ascend to heaven in the same manner, the Lord Jesus will meet us. It matters greatly that Jesus physically ascended to heaven. It gives us a clear message that we will also rise up and join him in glorious bodily resurrection. We have a future that is so glorious that our imagination cannot fully grasp the magnitude of such future. Why is even that important? It is because no matter how challenging and suffering this present life might be, we have a future story, a future glory that exceeds far beyond even the most prosperous life we can live in this present world. So let the treasures of your heart be not here but in the eternity that awaits us. As the disciples were eyewitnesses of Christ’s ascension, we must receive this account as a testimony, and a word of encouragement that we will also join Him in the same way! Praise be to God. If you are going through any challenges right now, if you are facing grief or sorrow, find your strength in future hope and future glory. As Christ ascended, so will you. Amen.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the ascension of Christ. I pray that You would grant me the assurance that one day I will also join Christ’s ascension and spend eternity in Your glorious and infinite presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
