Today’s Reflection: Acts 1:7
He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Let us wait upon the Lord to receive His power and become faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ. Courage, strength, understanding, wisdom, character, and words. These are but some things that we need to be faithful in our sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world around us. Jesus ascended to heaven and before He did, He left instructions for us to go and tell others about Him. Yet, He made it clear that we have to wait for the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we would be powerless to fulfill His command. We each have a story to tell about our experiences of God’s grace and love at work in our lives. Very often it is not that we don’t have a story to tell, but rather we like the power and ability to do it. We may simply be discouraged or afraid to tell our story. This is one example of how the Holy Spirit’s power can enable us to share our stories of God’s grace. Even when we do share our stories of God’s grace, we need the Holy Spirit to be the one to affect the listeners to have faith and be encouraged. Therefore we must pray and seek the Lord. We must wait upon the Lord and receive power from on high. Won’t you pray and call upon the Lord and receive power through the Holy Spirit? Amen.
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the promise of the Holy Spirit. Your calling for me would be impossible without Your power and presence. Help me to live each day in surrender to You. Enable me to be a faithful witness of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
